Started in 1961 in Migennes France, Charlatte
SA originally specialized in the machining of complete metal parts
and anti-hammer bladder tanks.

In 1980, Charlatte SA incorporated product
diversification by creating Charlatte Manutention (France), which
added battery powered tractors and flatbeds to the product line.
Charlatte Manutention quickly became the leader in battery powered
vehicles used throughout Europe.

In 1990, Charlatte Manutention further diversified
by adding even more battery powered tractor models to the product
line.

In 1991, Charlatte acquired Mathieu-Sofraola
located in eastern France, which added industrial sweepers and equipment
to the product line.

By 1993, Charlatte was prepared to expand
to the U.S. market, and created Charlatte of America, which quickly
became the leading U.S. manufacturer of battery powered vehicles
used on airport ramps.

In 1998, Charlatte Manutention (France)
relocated to a new manufacturing facility located in Brienon France
to accommodate growing European customer demands.
In 1999, the Fayat Group of companies acquired Charlatte.

to a larger manufacturing facility located in Bluefield, Virginia
to accommodate growing U.S. and European customer demand
